John E. Maloney
John E. Maloney
Mr. Maloney is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Previously, he served as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Sterling Advisors, a division of Gruntal & Company, LLC, which he also co-founded in 1984. He began his career at Marine Midland Bank in 1978 and then joined The Herold Group in 1980. In 1981 Mr. Maloney continued his career as Portfolio Manager at Bayrock Advisors, a division of Prudential Securities.
Mr. Maloney completed both his undergraduate and graduate education at Columbia University, where he earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Political Science, and master’s degrees in both Business Administration (MBA) and International Economics (MA). He has over 30 years of investment management experience. Mr. Maloney also serves on the Marian Woods Board of Directors as Treasurer, a licensed collaborative adult care facility for elder Catholic Women Religious in Hartsdale, NY.

Michael Charvala

Mr. Charvala is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer.
Michael joined M&R Capital in 2019 and brought over two decades of senior management experience to the firm. In addition to his background in Financial Management, Mr. Charvala has held senior management positions in the Telecommunications Industry. Most recently, Michael was an Associate Director for IT Project Management at Verizon Wireless, where he led a team of professionals responsible for delivering consumer-focused technology solutions.
Prior to obtaining his graduate degree at Boston University, Mr. Charvala had 10 years in the financial industry as a Financial/Operations Principal running broker/dealers in Philadelphia and New York City.
Mr. Charvala received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Cabrini University. He then attended the Boston University Questrom School of Business, where he earned both his MBA and Masters in Information Sciences.
He is active in his community, having run the Maplewood Lacrosse Club for 5 years and being President of the South Orange Elks. Currently he is still very active with the Elks serving on the House Committee.
Paul M. DeSisto, CFA
Paul M. DeSisto, CFA
Mr. DeSisto is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director.
He joined the firm in 2012 after 12 years with the Bank of New York Mellon, where he was Senior Portfolio Manager. At the Bank of New York, he was a member of the Personal Asset Management Division’s fixed-income investment committee and lead manager of the firm’s All Cap Leaders equity product.
He was previously the Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Alliance Capital Management. Before this, he was also Senior Portfolio Manager at BayBanks Investment Management, where he was the lead manager for small not-for-profit institutions.
Mr. DeSisto began his career at Moseley Securities Corp, Boston in 1987 investment executive. Mr. DeSisto earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the United States Air Force Academy, holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from Oklahoma State University, and studied graduate-level economics at New York University.
He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder. He is also a Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) and Command Pilot, United States Air Force Reserve. He has over 32 years of investment management experience.

John Orsatti, CFA
Mr. Orsatti is an Equity and Fixed Income Analyst
He joined the firm in 2006 after nine years with Deutsche Bank AG (formerly Bankers Trust) in New York, where he was an Assistant Vice President in Corporate Credit, covering energy and utility companies. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, specializing in Finance and Economics.
Mr. Orsatti also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Windsor and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder. He has more than 18 years of securities analysis and investment management experience.
Howard Katz

Mr. Katz is the Director of Research.
He has been doing value-based equity research since receiving his Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business in 1982.
His career started with Glickenhaus as a Value-Based Generalist from 1982 to1984. For most of the subsequent period, he analyzed companies for AK Money Management. He was also a financial advisor with Dean Witter and later at UBS/Paine Webber. Mr. Katz has over 25 years of experience in investment management and securities analysis.

Laurie Jesolosky is the Operations Manager.
She joined in 1999 as an Administrative Assistant and presently manages the daily operations of the office, including trading support, client services, new account, and quarterly reporting.
Jennifer Esser
Jennifer Esser
Jennifer Esser is a Client Services Administrator.
She joined the firm in 2004 as an Administrative Assistant and is responsible for the daily administrative duties of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Jennifer was an administrative assistant to the Executive Vice President of the Trust Department at Trust Company of New Jersey
for 12 years.
